Definition:

Emergency Evacuation Systems is aimed to provide an early warning system for implementing emergency action and to give occupants time to safely escape a building or area in the event of an emergency situation.

British & International Standards include (but are not limited to) the following:

BS 9999:2008 - Code of practice for fire safety in the design, management and use of buildings.

BS 5839-9:2011 - Fire detection and fire alarm systems for buildings. Code of practice for the design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of emergency voice communication systems.

BS 5839-8:2013 - Fire detection and fire alarm systems for buildings. Code of practice for the design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of voice alarm systems.

BS 8300:2009+A1:2010 - Design of buildings and their approaches to meet the needs of disabled people. Code of practice.
